Adam Toronto Obituary, Death – Adam Dunn Toronto passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on November 16 in San Francisco, California, where he lived and worked. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Marilyn Toronto, and his five siblings, Jesse (Tiffany), Esther, Joanna, Brett, and Abby Shumway (Rosson). Madison, Robby, Eli, Taylor, Jordan, Ryland and Clara Toronto, and Rickie and Sunnie Shumway were among his nieces and nephews, as were countless other extended family, friends, and coworkers.

Adam was born on February 20, 1981, in Mesa, Arizona, and grew up in Taiwan and Colorado. He was a gifted pianist, athlete, and academic scholar growing up, graduating from Mountain View High School before going on to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Peru. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Arizona State University as well as a Master of Science in Public Administration from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

He spent 15 years in the Life Sciences industry, directing corporate compliance for some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. His extraordinary professional achievements took him to Boston, Orange County, and San Francisco, all of which he adored and called home. Adam’s outgoing personality, generosity, and love of people were truly exceptional. His extraordinary ability to befriend and show genuine unconditional love to everyone he met earned him thousands of admirers from all walks of life. More than words can express how much he will be missed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1266 S. 32nd St, Mesa, AZ 85204, with a viewing beginning at 9 a.m. There will also be a viewing on Friday, December 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Toronto home, 955 S 26th St. Mesa, 85204. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adam’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of his favorite charities.
