Alex Hansen Obituary, Death – Alexander Sasha Hansen, son of Adam Gamba Hansen of Belmont, NC and Jaime Nichole Huey of Irmo, SC, brother of Kyle Gamba Hansen, grandson of Michelle and Wilbur Dean Huey of Glen Campbell, Pa. and Nancy and Jerry Hansen of Aiken, SC, died on December 2, 2022. Alex was born on January 6, 2001 in Augusta, Georgia. He attended Millbrook Elementary, Kennedy Middle School, and South Aiken High School before moving to Irmo, South Carolina, in 2016. In 2019, Alex graduated from Irmo High School.

Alex was a soccer fanatic who played with zeal and passion. He was a member of the GA/SC Bulls and GPS Lexington. He was a member of Irmo High School’s JV and Varsity soccer teams, as well as the Cross Country team. He attended Coker College after high school and played soccer his freshman year. In the Columbia Central League, he joined his father and brother. In the Premier League, he supported Manchester City FC and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Alex was also interested in cars, which he enjoyed working on, driving, and studying. He was completely smitten by his Honda Prelude, which he had spent hours customizing and detailing. He attended the Irmo Car Shows on a regular basis.

Alex spent two years as a server at The British Bulldog Pub in Irmo, South Carolina. He genuinely enjoyed his job, the pub’s atmosphere, and, most importantly, the people he worked with. Alex was a lovely, bright, and dedicated soul who was taken from us far too soon and will be greatly missed. Todd and Natalia Huey of Portland, MI, David and Megan Huey of Martinsburg, WV, Shelley and Curtis Small of Glen Campbell, PA, Logan Hansen of W. Danville, Vt., Damon Hansen and Amanda Burns of Atlanta, Ga., Conner and Maggie Hansen of Concord, NH, and cousins Brent, Madison, Deagan, Lindsey, and Garrett survive him in addition to his immediate family. Alex also had a large and loving family that will remember him for the rest of his life, including great uncles, aunts, and second cousins.

On Thursday, December 8, a small service will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, followed by a drop-in remembrance at the British Bulldog Pub at 6:00 p.m. Everyone who knew and loved Alex is invited to attend the Bulldog in their favorite Manchester City, University of South Carolina, or Irmo High School jersey or casual wear. Donations in Alex’s memory may be made to the National Alliance of Mental Illness at nami.org/Home in lieu of flowers.
