Andrew Dawson Obituary, Death – Andrew Dawson, a resident of Scituate, Massachusetts, passed away in a peaceful and comfortable manner on Friday at South Shore Hospital, following several weeks of illness during which he was cared for by his devoted family. Andrew Dawson’s passing came after he had been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Andrew is the oldest son of Andrew J. Dawson, M.D., Andrew’s father, and Joanne T. (McLaughlin), Andrew’s mother, who has since passed away. Andrew is the eldest son. He enjoyed spending time with his grandmother in Somerville when he was a kid, and he also liked working at the marble shop that his family owned in Cambridge. When he was an adult, he moved to Somerville.
He graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1970 and was a member of that school’s Class of 1970. There, he also earned his diploma. His undergraduate degree came from Georgetown University, where he was a member of the Class of 1974. He then continued his education at Northeastern University, where he was a member of the Class of 1981, earning a master’s degree in business administration there. Over the course of the prior eighteen years, he had called Scituate his permanent residence. Andy attended the Saint Mary of the Nativity Church in Scituate, and he and the other people who attended that church looked forward to getting together for breakfast on Sundays. Andy was a member of that church.
He had always been interested in the ocean, and he made the most of his opportunities to explore it by going swimming, fishing, and boating whenever he had the chance. Andy was also a talented artist, and he created portraits in watercolors of people and places that had a significant impact on his life. These portraits held a special place in Andy’s heart. Andy was a devoted father and a loving husband to his late wife, Patty Sue (Chumbley) Dawson. Patty Sue (Chumbley) Dawson was the mother of his four children. Domenic M. Dawson of New York, Rose K. Brown and her husband Randy of Virginia, and Nicole S. Dawson and Tyler Shannon, both of Vermont, and Domenic M. Dawson, of Vermont, were all extremely devoted to their father.
He was the oldest of four children and a cherished brother to Susanna Dawson and her husband Michael Mahan of Maine, Joanne Lortie and her husband Paul of Maryland, and John Dawson and his wife Jane of New Hampshire. He passed away as the oldest of his children in New Hampshire. He was the oldest child out of a total of four, making him the oldest child overall. In addition, several of Andy’s nieces and nephews will continue to carry on his legacy after he has passed away.
