Barbara Thore Obituary, Death – On the eveningĀ Barbara Nunn Thore, who resided at 1079 Collins Farm Road in Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away in her home at the age of 85. She was a longtime resident of the area. Mrs. Thore was one of four children who were born to the late Willie Hamon and Donie Emerline Hiatt Nunn. Her father passed away before she was born, but her mother gave birth to her. She arrived into this world in Surry County on November 27th, 1929.
In addition to her role as a housewife, she was active in the Faith and Gospel Church in the community. Her devoted husband of 66 years, Percy Batten Thore, of the home survives her along with two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Roger Portis and Renee and Marvin Byrd, all of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Pandy Payne, Devon and Kaylee Byrd, Austin Byrd, Daisy Byrd, and Rebecca Portis, all of Mount Airy; her great-grandchildren, Jacob Payne and Andrew Payne, both of Mount Mrs.
Thore was predeceased by her son James William Thore, granddaughter Robin Amanda Hill, sister Geraldine Nunn Rogers, and brother Keith Nunn. She is survived by her sister Geraldine Nunn Rogers and brother Keith Nunn. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thore was survived by a brother named Keith Nunn.
Her parents had also predeceased her. On Saturday at 2:00 PM, the funeral ceremony will be held in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The Reverends Alan Easter, Buford E. Jessup, and Rickey Rogers will take turns serving as the ceremony’s presiding ministers. On Friday evening, members of the family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to meet and greet guests who have come to pay their respects.
