Bill Walton Obituary, Death – Billy Ray “Bill” Walton, a resident of Russell Springs, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, while he was at his house. His passing occurred on that date. He was 85 years old at that point in time. Bill Harris Walton was born in Oakland, Mississippi on April 21, 1937. His parents, Ezra Harris and Effie Cook Walton, both passed away before their son was born. Both of his parents had passed away at this point. During the course of his playing career, he was a member of the football squad for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Not only was Bill the first Emergency Medical Technician in Russell Area, but he was also a founding member of the Russell County Rescue Squad. During the forty-two years that Bill was a member of the Russell County Rescue Squad, the organization provided emergency medical services to the county. Bill was a consistent participant in the services held at the Jamestown Christian Church. He fished a lot and had a lot of fun.

He is survived by his son, Ray Walton (and Melanie), of Lexington, Kentucky; his daughters, Maria Walton of Bowling Green and Lisa (and Mike) Bradshaw of Jamestown, Kentucky; his grandsons, Connor Walton, Jason (and Andrea) Bradshaw, and Kyle Bradshaw; and his great-grandson, Caynan Bradshaw. He is also survived by his daughters, Maria Walton of Bowling Green and Lisa (and Mike) Bradshaw of Jamestown, Kentucky. His daughters, Maria Walton of Bowling Green and Lisa (and Mike) Bradshaw of Jamestown, Kentucky, are also among those who carry on his legacy after his passing.

In addition to his own parents, Bill is preceded in death by his spouse, Rose Derrington Walton, who passed away on July 19, 2020; his brother, E.H. Walton; and his sister-in-law, Mary Walton. Helen Walton, who was his sister; and Walton. Irene Walker, Walton’s sister, was also there to see the event with him. At one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, December 12, 2022, funeral services will be place at the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Welker and Bro. Bucky Walters is acting in the capacity of referee for this match. Following the conclusion of the funeral service, the burial will take place at the Russell County Memorial Gardens.
