Broderick Moore Obituary, Death – Three members of the Southern University Human Jukebox Marching Band were killed in a terrible accident that occurred on Tuesday evening in Natchitoches Parish. The incident was a tragic accident Dec. 6. The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed just before 8 o’clock in the evening that multiple agencies responded to a major collision involving two vehicles that occurred on Interstate 49 (northbound), north of Powhatan. The accident involved a head-on collision between the two vehicles.
According to Kedric Taylor, who served as the Director of Bands at Southern University and A&M College, the incident caused the deaths of three students. These students were involved in the band. Out of the total number of students, there were three, and two of them played the tuba, while the other student was a percussionist. According to the Louisiana State Police, the names of the victims have been revealed to be Broderick Moore, 19, from Cedar Hill, Texas; Tyran Williams, 19, from Dallas, Texas; and Dylan Young, 21, from Dallas, Texas. All three men were from Texas.
The Louisiana State Police have provided the following data for our review. During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that a Jeep Laredo from the year 1999 had broken down on the shoulder of the northbound exit ramp of Interstate 49. Those who were operating the Jeep made an attempt to replace a flat tire on the vehicle while they were driving it. Accident occurred when a northbound 1997 Freightliner driven by Clyde Gay, 62, of Coushatta, drifted onto the northbound shoulder, collided with the left side of the Jeep, and as a result of the accident, struck all three pedestrians. Freightliner was traveling in the northbound direction.
The investigation into what caused the accident is not finished yet and will continue. Williams, Young, and Moore were all injured so severely that they were unable to survive, and they were all pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Despite being restrained, Gay did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident. The checks that are considered to be standard in toxicology are not yet finished. There has not yet been a conclusion reached in the investigation into the crash.
