Christine McGee Obituary, Death – Christine McGee, a resident of Carolina Village, passed away on Saturday and went to be with our Lord. Her birthday is February 2, 1924, and she has made Henderson County, North Carolina, her permanent residence ever since 1960. She was born in Newton, North Carolina. Both of her parents, John Emmett Sigmon and Eslie Deal Sigmon, had already passed away prior to her birth.

She was their daughter. Her loving husband of 63 years, William (Bill) McGee, who passed away on October 10, 2012, was the one who preceded her in death. The couple had been married for a total of 63 years. Her son, John Christopher McGee, as well as her brother, Fred Sigmon, and her sisters Madeline Smyre, Nadine Eudy, Rebecca Young, and Sue Henderson all passed away before she did. Her death came as a surprise to everyone. Additionally, she was the only living member of her immediate family.

In addition to attending Lenoir-Rhyne College, Christine was an active participant at Grace Lutheran Church for many years. In addition to that, she was an active participant in the Naomi Circle of Church Women and served as a teacher at the local church. She was a very involved citizen of the Hendersonville community, serving in various capacities for organizations such as Chapter V PEO, Church Women United of Henderson County, Forrest Woman’s Club, Old Kanuga Garden Club, and the Hendersonville Country Club. She was also a member of the Hendersonville Country Club.

William Edward McGee, Jr. and his wife Glenda of Louisburg, North Carolina, and Joseph Emmett McGee and his wife Karen of Leicester are Christine’s sons. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane McGee Smith and her husband Randy of Rutherfordton, as well as her grandchildren, Tamara Young and her husband Mike of Bryson City, Carrie Wood and her husband Scott of Youngsville, North Carolina, Phillip McGee of Leicester, Ryan McGe
