Dave Bishop Obituary, Death – David Noel Bishop, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and all-around nice guy, died unexpectedly on February 13, 2022. He was 66 years old and had recently retired from his business, where he was known as the “ham man.” While working as a division manager at Waffle House, he met his wife of 39 years, Cindy. After years of success in this position, David was given the opportunity to pursue his dream of owning his own business. Hickory hams quickly gained popularity and devoted followers. When the company had an opportunity to expand, David and Cindy took the risk and joined the HoneyBaked ham family. Because of their dedication, loyal employees, and strong customer base, they became one of the country’s most successful HoneyBaked hams.

The vast majority of their employees were treated like family. David was a caring, compassionate owner and manager who inspired many people. Even after he retired, “the Ham Man” would pay frequent visits to his former restaurant’s customers.
David attended Duke University on a full football scholarship after graduating from Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, which was one of his proudest achievements. He cherished his time as a Duke and maintained contact with many of his teammates. He also liked to golf, boat, and watch sports. He had the ability to make everyone feel special.

Above all, David and Cindy cherished their time with their grandchildren, Keegan and Mackenzie, and eagerly anticipated their annual summer vacations. David was very proud of his children and enjoyed bragging about them… family comes first for David.
David is survived by his wife, Cindy, son Noel, sister Laurie and (Rusty) Bogue, brother Mark and Angie Houser, niece and nephew Drew and Caroline Lewis, and grandchildren Keegan and Mackenzie Stoddard, as well as Tara, his mother. His parents, C Noel and Shirley Bishop went to heaven before him.
David’s memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 3 p.m. at the HoneyBaked Ham, 12040 Anderson Rd., Tampa. At the informal gathering, we hope to gather and share events from David’s life.
