Delbert Heithoff Obituary, Death –  Delbert V. Heithoff, who resided in Elgin, Nebraska prior to moving to Norfolk, Nebraska, passed away on November 30, 2022 at his current residence in Norfolk, Nebraska at the age of 90. On the morning of Friday, December 9, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, Nebraska. Officiating the service will be Father John Norman and Deacon Dennis Weihn. After the funeral, the body will be transferred to St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Elgin, Nebraska, where it will be laid to rest with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post #229 of Elgin, Nebraska, and the Army Funeral Honor Guard.

On Thursday, visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the church, followed by a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Delbert On August 16, 1932, in the town of Elgin, Nebraska, the birth of Virgil Heithoff took place. He was the son of Rudy and Theresa (Venteicher) Heithoff. Delbert received his education at St. Boniface Catholic School in Elgin, from which he graduated alongside his class in the year 1950. After graduating from high school, Delbert enlisted in the Army in February 1953 and served as a member of a Demolition Squad in the countries of Korea and Okinawa. In January of 1955, he was eventually given a discharge that was honorable.

St. John’s Catholic Church in Petersburg, Nebraska was the location of Delbert and Myra Lucille Schrad’s wedding on June 24, 1957. The ceremony took place on that day. This union was fruitful for Delbert, as it resulted in the birth of six children. The couple decided to buy a farm in the Elgin area, and Delbert spent the next three decades there farming, ranching, and repairing gear heads. In 1982, Myra was tragically killed in an automobile accident.

On July 5, 1985, Delbert Yosten wed Avis Marie Studnicka, and the ceremony took place at St. Francis Church in Neligh, Nebraska. As a result of this marriage, Delbert now has four stepchildren. The couple retired to their new house on the farm and made the most of their golden years. Del and his wife Avis enjoyed going on vacation together, and he cherished his time with his grandchildren.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Avis Heithoff of Norfolk, Nebraska; six children: Lorinda (Larry) Milburn of Albion, Nebraska; Beverly (Ralph) Motier of St. Mary’s, Georgia; David (Karla) Heithoff of Columbus, Nebraska; JoLynn Horner of Lincoln, Nebraska; Brian (Lisa) Heithoff of Columbus, Nebraska; Rick Heithoff of Lincoln, Nebraska; stepchildren: Joseph Yosten of Lincoln

His parents, his wife Myra Heithoff, his brother Larry Heithoff, his sisters LuVerna Jochum and Delores Pelster, his in-laws Toby Jochum and Joe Pelster, and his sister-in-law Vera Heithoff all passed away before him.
