Gerald Saxton Obituary, Death – On Monday, November 21, 2022, Gerald “Gerry” Saxton, a much-loved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55. Our hearts are heavy as we share this news with you. Gerry was working for the St. Catharines Fire Department, where he was currently in his 18th year of service. Unfortunately, Gerry was unable to overcome the injuries he sustained while performing his duties and passed away.

As a result of his many years spent working as a volunteer and coaching hockey and soccer, he was a well-liked and respected member of the Merritton and firefighter communities. Gerry was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Lorraine for the entire 29 years they were married. He was also the proud father of their children Brett, Shane (Beth Kvas), Cole, and Eve. He is survived by his father Bill Saxton of St. Catharines, who was predeceased by his wife Marlene; his brother Bill Saxton and his wife Jill, who live in Niagara-on-the-Lake; and his sister Nadine Carr and her husband Doug, who live in Ridgeway.

Gerry is also survived by his brother-in-law Gary Condon and his wife Tracey, who reside in St. Catharines, as well as his brother Sean Condon and his wife Norma, who reside in Toronto, as well as his sister-in-law Elizabeth Montgomery, who resides in St. Catharines. His many nieces and nephews will grievously miss him after his passing. The Saxton family would like to express their gratitude to the emergency personnel and medical staff at St. Catharines General Hospital for the excellent care that Gerry received there.

We would like to extend our gratitude in particular to the St. Catharines Fire Department as well as the St. Catharines Professional Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 485. Kind and generous at heart, Gerry had a special place in his heart for canines. The Lincoln County Humane Society is accepting donations in memory of Gerry, which can be made in his name.

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m., there will be a visitation. to 1 p.m. in St. Catharines, at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME located at 585 Carlton Street. A funeral service in memory of Gerry will take place at one in the afternoon. at George Darte Funeral Home. After the ceremony, there will be a reception held at the Merritton Community Centre, which is located at 7 Park Avenue in St. Catharines.
