Jack Holt Obituary, Death – Jack Holt, longtime educator of instrumental music at Wauconda High School has sadly and unexpectedly passed away. According to an online publication; ” Band and Theater students and parents from Wauconda High School, Because Jack Holt was such a beloved instrumental music educator at WHS since 2011, we wanted to reach out to all of you and express our sadness at his passing. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with Jack’s family.

Jack was in charge of more than seven different types of bands and taught a variety of music classes during his eleven years as a teacher at WHS. During his time at the school, Jack was a key member of the “Marching Bulldogs” marching band program, which grew to include over 200 students. He also increased the number of opportunities for the jazz band and winter pep band to perform. For a number of years, Jack also conducted the pit orchestra for musical theater productions, the most recent of which was the award-winning “Spamalot.”

Because of the size of his heart, Jack’s generous nature left an impression on everyone he met. Jack devoted his entire life to the education and guidance of his students. His enthusiasm for music was contagious, and he was always eager to help students reach their full potential. A number of his former students have continued their musical studies beyond the confines of their high school years as a result of his mentoring. Jack will be remembered for the long-lasting impact he had on his students, as well as his genuine concern for them. Jack will be terribly missed.

When times are tough, it is critical that we as a school community reach out to one another, ensure that everyone is okay, and that we are caring for one another.
School counselors will be available in the auditorium on Monday morning before school at 7:00 a.m. to meet with students in the band and theater programs. This is being done to assist our students in coping with the loss, and the meeting will be held in the auditorium. Please remember the Holt family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
