James Sleigher Obituary, Death – James H. “Jim” Sleigher, age 83, of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Kissinger Mills, passed away on December 3, 2022 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville. He was a longtime resident of Kissinger Mills. Karns City, Pennsylvania is the location where he was given birth on February 19, 1939. His parents were James C. and Loretta C. (Lewis) Sleigher. Jim attended both the Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church and the St. Richard’s Roman Catholic Church regularly throughout his life. Before that, he had spent a significant amount of time working as a laborer at the Rex-Hide and later at the Indspec.

Jim enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and camping. It was a pleasant pastime for him to travel “around the horn” and look for deer and turkey. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, going for walks, and going to sporting events like baseball and football. Jim placed a high priority on his family and delighted in the time spent with them, including taking his grandchildren out for ice cream and other treats. His thoughtfulness toward his family, friends, and loved ones, all of whom will grievously miss him, will live on in memory forever.

Daughter Mary “Beth” Rankin and her husband Ronald “Bub” Rankin of New Bethlehem, grandchildren Ashley Nicole Kemmer and her husband Brian, Whitney Renee DeMiere and her husband Mark Jr., and Katie Jo Rankin, great-grandchildren Madison and Clayton Kemmer, Teaghan, Milena, and Mark III DeMiere, and Raegan and Rhilyn Zuranik, brothers Nicholas L. Sleigher and his wife Sandy of Kissinger Mills, Pennsylvania Jim’s grandparents, his beloved wife Becky E. (Simpson) Sleigher, whom he wed on January 21, 1961 and who passed away on December 14, 2017, as well as his grandson Matthew B. Songer have all passed away. Jim’s parents both passed away.

Family and guests are welcome to visit the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at their location at 758 Main Street in Rimersburg. Additional visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, beginning at 10 AM and continuing up to the start of the funeral services at 11 AM. The Reverend Mark Deeter will preside over the ceremonies.
