John Costello Obituary, Death – John Costello, a Broad Run High School coach died in a tragic car accident. John was a devoted spouse to Ellen, with whom he shared the parenting of their three children. They worked as a team to bring up their children. He was the devoted father of Margaret Costello, who lived in Newton; Caroline Costello, who lived in Westwood; and Sean Costello, who lived in Dedham; all three of his children called their hometown their home. The devoted grandfather of Brianna Cataldo, Michael Costello, Alison Costello, Olivia Costello, and James Costello, he was also the grandfather of Olivia Costello. Costello was the family name given to each of his grandchildren.
Before John was born, both of his parents, Padraig and Margaret (Fenton) O’Coisdealbha, as well as three of his brothers, Michael, Joseph, and Martin, and one of his sisters, Maura Heanue, had already passed away. His cherished brothers Padraig, Thomas, and Colin all reside in London. He is also survived by his sister Bridge Caine, who resides in Sligo, Ireland, and his brother Peader, who resides in Spiddal, which is located in County Galway, Ireland. A large number of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends live in the United States, Ireland, and England. This includes his extended family.
John was born in the town of Carraroe, which is located in the county of Galway. In the year 1957, he traveled all the way across the ocean to get to Boston. He began courting the woman who would eventually become his wife, Ellen, in the late 1950s, and they have been together as a married couple for the past 61 years. He was a union carpenter and a member of Local 40, both of which brought him a great deal of pride. His professional life spanned a total of 22 years, and the last few of those years were spent working at the Schepens Eye Research Institute. He claimed that this was his favorite job because he got to interact with a lot of new people and it gave him that opportunity.
John was the quintessential example of all that it means to be an Irishman. He was famous for his hilarious sense of humor and his love of regaling others with tales of his adventures. He fished for a significant portion of his life, which spanned the majority of his lifetime. Above all else, he prized the time he got to spend with his family, especially the quality time he got to spend with his cherished grandchildren. John was involved with a number of Irish organizations, including the Irish Social Club, the Hibernian Club of Watertown, the Norwood Irish Music Club, and the Irish Cultural Center.
