Matthew Calderon Obituary, Death – In memory of Matthew Anthony Calderon, who was a junior at Texas A&M University from San Antonio and was majoring in electronic systems engineering technology when he passed away on October 19, Silver Taps will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 10:30 p.m. at the university. Matthew Anthony Calderon was an electronic systems engineering technology major when he passed away. In memory of Matthew Anthony Calderon, there will be a performance of the taps.

Attendees are required to be present in order to take part in the Silver Taps ceremony, which will take place in person on the Academic Plaza. As a gesture of respect and in memory of Mr. Calderon, all of the lights on campus will be turned off at 10:20 p.m. that evening. In order to observe a moment of silence, students, faculty, and staff, along with members of their families and friends, will gather in the plaza in front of the Academic Building. An honor guard from the Ross Volunteer Company will make their way there in a slow procession when it arrives at the plaza at 10:30 p.m., and once they are there, the members of the honor guard will fire three volleys of rifle fire to mark the occasion.

Those who are unable to attend in person will have the opportunity to watch a special premiere of Silver Taps that will be broadcast by the Division of Student Affairs on its YouTube channel on December 6 at 10:30 p.m. for those who are unable to attend in person. In the event that one of the school’s students has passed away, a memorial service known as Silver Taps is performed on the first Tuesday of each month from September through April. It is one of the last memorial services that will be held for any current student who passed away during the course of the academic year. It does not matter if the student was a graduate or an undergraduate; they are all included in this memorial service.
