Team Usa and Jr. You are in everyone on Team USA’s thoughts and prayers, and we will never forget you. I pray that you can find the kind of peace that transcends all understanding. I just found out about the passing of a woman who was one of the sweetest and most loving people I have ever had the privilege of knowing, and because of this, I am at a loss for any kind of consolation that might help me through my grief.

I was immediately overcome with an intense feeling of regret and loss when I learned that Pat Winkels had passed away this morning. I will miss him terribly.
She was truly one of a kind, and the athletes on Team USA and Junior Team USA affectionately referred to her as “Momma Pat.” We had a great time making jokes and making fun of each other while we were traveling around the world and visiting a variety of countries together. It was an opportunity that would only come around once in a lifetime (something both of us seemed to enjoy). Her presence will be sorely missed by everyone because she was present for many of the most iconic and unforgettable moments in the annals of Team USA’s history. Momma Pat, I pray that you are finally able to find some peace. Cancer is a dreadful form of disease.
