Rick Sharrock Obituary, Death – This past week, our family was dealt a sad blow when Rick Sharrock, a member who was greatly liked and treasured, went away suddenly. His passing was a shock to all of us. He will be sorely missed by everyone. Because of the news, we are unable to find any comfort in anything. When we first came into contact with Rick many years ago, he became an instant and inseparable member of our family. Since that time, Rick has always been an integral part of our group. Not only was Rick Mitch’s father, but he was also Mitch’s best friend. Mitch looked up at Rick. Rick was someone that Mitch looked up to.
Rick was Ab Astris’s most ardent advocate and backer during their entire campaign. He surprised us by framing special articles and awards to display in our tasting room. He also organized special wine dinners for us in the early days of opening. Finally, he brought everyone he knew to the winery to spread the word about our family’s new business venture in the winemaking industry. Rick was more than that; he was the best father, grandpa, and bonus grandfather “DD” to Whitney, Hadley, and Ella, and he was family to all of us. Whitney, Hadley, and Ella were lucky to have Rick in their lives. His presence is sorely missed. He was hilarious, always happy and upbeat, had a heart of gold, and was the most generous and selfless man; he was the epitome of a life that was lived to the fullest potential that it could have been. He passed away when he was only 58 years old.
At this point in time, it is not possible to encapsulate all of our feelings in a single sentence due to the fact that there are too many of them. It is hard to put into words how much we will miss having him here with us. We will miss having him around.
