Thomas Flynn Obituary, Death – Thomas Flynn Jr. is included. ALBANY – On December 2, 2022, at the age of 89, Thomas F. Flynn Jr., who had lived in Delmar and Albany for a significant amount of time, passed away in a calm and peaceful manner in Albany. Tom Flynn was born in Albany on August 28, 1933. His parents, Thomas and Edith Flynn, both passed away before their son was born. He received diplomas from Christian Brothers Academy, The College of Saint Rose, and Albany College of Pharmacy-Union College all in one academic year. Tom was the epitome of a devoted family man who was also very active in his church, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, an Alzheimer’s support group, and the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization.
He was recognized for the selfless service he has provided to his community by being given an award from the St. Peter’s Jefferson Awards. His hobby of choice was model railroading. He was a very active member of the Catskill and Adirondack Railroad, which required him to travel all over the country to attend various conventions. In addition to this, he spent a significant amount of time attending his children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-athletic grandchildren’s competitions, theatrical productions, and musical performances.
He is survived by Sandra Stratton Flynn, his wife of 51 years; his children, Gena Tucker, Michael (Marlene) Flynn, Michelle Allen, Stacy (Paul Sylvester) McGraw, David (Bridget) Flynn, Shawn (Stacey) Flynn, Marilou (Chris) Bick, and Shannon Flynn; as well as three grandchildren, Nicholas, Mary, and Alyssa Allen, whom he raised as his own Tom’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren’s names included April, Jared, Joseph, Anthony, Frankie, Victoria, Julia, Aiden, Michael, Jacob, Morgan, Lauren, Cici, Bella, and Mia. His great-names grandchildren’s included Avery, Willow, Oona, Lillian, Dahlia, Mason, and Jack.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Alex; his brother, Thomas; his cherished aunts, Ann and Florence Morris; and his devoted companion, Duke. His parents passed away when he was a young child. On Saturday, December 10, at 12 p.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Thomas. Before the Mass begins, family and friends are welcome to stop by the chapel to pay their respects from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The burial will be carried out in private.
