William Bryant Obituary, Death – At the age of 83, Dr. William Bryant “Snooks” Saye of Woodstock passed away at Northside Hospital Cherokee on December 1, 2022. Dr. Saye was born to William Bryant Saye and Louise Booth on June 19, 1939 in the city of Madison in the state of Georgia. He received his diploma from Morgan County High School in Madison, Georgia, where he was the undisputed best high school football player in the state. After graduating from high school, Dr. Saye went on to study at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the football team, held the position of president of the Student Body, and participated in a wide variety of other campus organizations and clubs. Dr. Saye is a graduate of Tulane University’s School of Medicine.

His duty took him to the MacDill Air Force Base in Florida, where he served as an officer in the United States Air Force. After completing his military service with distinction, Dr. Saye went on to establish his obstetrician and gynecologist practice in Marietta, Georgia. He worked there from 1971 until 1988, during which time he provided his services to the local community. Dr. Saye was the first surgeon to perform a cholecystectomy using laparoscopic techniques after he retired from clinical practice and moved on to laparoscopic surgery. In Marietta, Georgia, he established the Advanced Laparoscopy Training Center and served as its first director.

In the year 2000, Dr. Saye moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida, for his retirement. Dr. Saye had a deep love for his family and the outdoors. He enjoyed activities such as hunting, fishing, and golfing, and he also took care of his quarter horses and paint horses. Despite the fact that he worked in the medical field, he placed his family and the outdoors above all else.

Dr. Saye’s biological father, William Bryant Saye, his biological mother, Louise Bray, and his stepfather, A.T. Bray, all passed away before him. He is survived by his children: Steve Saye; grandchildren Tayler Cahill and Buck Saye; great-grandchildren Avery Eubanks, Brody Cahill, Branson Cahill, and Brinley Saye; son Jeff and Kim Saye of Woodstock; grandchildren Thomas Saye and Matthew Saye; daughter Laurie and Scott Gilbert of Woodstock; grandchildren Reagan Gilbert and Walker Gilbert; son Brandon Saye; granddaughter Kendall Saye; and former wife Krista Saye of Fernandina Beach, Florida. There will be a memorial service held at a later time to honor Dr. Saye and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Tunnels to Towers foundation in honor of Dr. Saye.
