William Dickerson Obituary, Death – William Robert “Billy” Dickerson, age 36, of Portland, who formerly resided in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, December 1, 2022, in his home in Portland. He had been addicted to opioids for a number of years, the cause of which was chronic pain that he suffered from over the course of his life. He was the son of Don Dickerson and Judy Strait Dickerson, and he was born on June 11th, 1986 in the town of Coudersport.

Shinglehouse’s Oswayo Valley High School’s Class of 2004 graduate Billy attended and graduated from that school. He started his education at Slippery Rock University, where he studied Communications with a major and French with a minor. He continued his education at Buffalo State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. In addition to that, he was offered the chance to spend one semester studying in France, which he took advantage of. Previously, he worked for Apple as a member of the company’s technical support staff in a number of cities across the country.

Billy was someone who enjoyed a wide variety of music and could frequently be found singing, dancing, and generally making the most of his life. His lifelong dream was to see the world. Everyone who knew Billy was aware of his desire to carry on living. His loved ones and friends will always remember his contagious laugh, his passion for exciting new experiences, and his sensitive soul. Those who are left behind to honor his memory are his parents, who reside in Shinglehouse; two sisters, Amy Murray of Farmington, Pennsylvania, and Jennie (Eddie) Jackson of Genesee, Pennsylvania; three nephews, Chase, Xavier, and Damion; a niece,

In addition to Billy’s beloved aunts, uncles, and grandparents on both sides of his family who passed away before him, his maternal grandparents Robert and Dorothy Strait and his paternal grandmother Theo Dickerson also passed away.

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm, family and friends will be able to pay their respects to Billy at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, located at 118 South Union Street in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania. There will then be a celebration of Billy’s life at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s preferred charitable organization. Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director and owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania, has been given the responsibility of caring for Billy and making arrangements for his cremation by his family.
